There is a lot of talk about how important it is to promote your social signals, what with Googles latest update putting more emphasis on Social Media Marketing. The main problem is there are so many to choose from, most go for the big ones like Twitter, Facebook Google plus etc.
It is a bit early to say just how effective it is to have the all singing and dancing social signals and how this translates into search engine positioning. There is also another concern over how well you can control the ranking, sure you can create great pages, groups and promote them, but who actually controls them? Google, Twitter, Facebook? The main point is to promote your interest and website via social groups, and different people, these people then like what you have posted and re-post, or talk about it down the pub, these do the same and hey presto your viral. Google have said they will place more and more emphasis on social circles, they don’t mention which ones though.
because Google have the monopoly on search engines, we really have no choice but to follow what they say, on this note I would say to get signed up with the main 4 social sites, work on social marketing, then repeat this with other social sites. The downside is that you will need relevant posting on all the sites which can be time consuming.
Make sure you have a brand developed for your business website, one that is seemless with all the networks and one that fits in with your overal business or niche. Using this with other Website promotion services will have a positive overall impact on your website.
